Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how RIDEO collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the RIDEO website, the RIDEO mobile application, or any related services.

Effective date: 17 April 2026  ·  Last updated: 17 April 2026

1. Who we are

RIDEO is a community mobility platform that enables verified members of homeowners associations (HOAs), condominium associations, villages, campuses, and similar communities to coordinate carpools and shared rides with other verified members of the same community.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, “RIDEO”, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to the operator of the RIDEO platform and the RIDEO mobile application, headquartered in the Philippines. “You” or “user” refers to any person who accesses or uses the services.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following categories:

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, mobile number, and password.
  • Community information: the community (HOA, condominium, village, or campus) you are registering under, your unit or address within the community, and your relationship to that community (owner, tenant, employee, resident).
  • Identity verification: a selfie and, where required by the community, a government-issued ID or proof-of-address document. These are reviewed by community administrators and by our operator team.
  • Driver information (drivers only): driver's license, vehicle registration (OR/CR), vehicle make, model, plate number, and vehicle photos.
  • Trip and ride board information: origin, destination, departure time, seats, notes, and the rides you offer, request, or accept.
  • Payments (where applicable): payment method details are handled by our third-party payment processors. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications: messages you send through the in-app chat, support tickets, and feedback forms.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device information: device model, operating system, mobile carrier, app version, crash logs, and diagnostic data.
  • Usage information: which screens you view, actions you take within the app, and timestamps of those actions.
  • Location information: approximate and precise location, collected only when the app is in use during an active trip or when you explicitly request pickup matching. See Section 5 for details.
  • Log data: IP address, browser type (for the website), and access timestamps.

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Community administrators may upload or confirm your membership status within a community.
  • Identity verification providers may return a pass/fail result when we send a document for checking.
  • Payment processors return transaction status and masked payment details.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your RIDEO account and verify your eligibility to join a specific community.
  • Match riders with drivers within the same community and coordinate pickup hubs, routes, and timing.
  • Display your first name, first initial of your surname, community, and ride details to other verified members of the same community when you post or respond to a ride.
  • Enable community administrators to review, approve, or reject member applications on their board.
  • Process payments and payouts (where applicable) through our payment partners.
  • Send operational messages — booking confirmations, trip status updates, verification status, account alerts, and safety notices.
  • Respond to support requests and investigate safety, abuse, or policy violations.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and misuse of the platform.
  • Improve the platform — fix bugs, measure feature performance, and understand how the service is used in aggregate.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers for advertising purposes, and we do not rent or trade your data.

4. How we share information

We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With other verified community members: when you post or accept a ride, your first name, surname initial, community, photo, ride route, and rating are visible to other verified members involved in that ride.
  • With community administrators: the HOA, condominium, or campus representative who manages the board you joined can view your application, verification status, and ride activity within their community.
  • With service providers: cloud hosting, SMS and email delivery, payment processing, identity verification, mapping, crash reporting, and analytics vendors who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal reasons: when required by law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of RIDEO, our users, or the public.
  • In a business transfer: if RIDEO is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
  • With your consent: for any other purpose you explicitly approve.

5. Location data

Location data is central to a ride-matching service. We handle it carefully:

  • When collected: precise location is collected only when the app is actively open and you have started, accepted, or are tracking a trip. We also use your location at the moment you post a ride from your current spot.
  • Background location: if you enable trip tracking or live share, the app may access location in the background during an active trip. This stops when the trip ends.
  • You can disable location at any time through your device settings. Some features (live tracking, accurate pickup matching) will not work without it.
  • Approximate vs. precise: we request precise location only where it is needed for pickup matching. Otherwise approximate location (to the nearest neighborhood) is sufficient.

6. App permissions

The RIDEO mobile app may request the following device permissions:

  • Location (foreground and, optionally, background): for ride matching and live trip tracking — see Section 5.
  • Camera: to capture a selfie during verification and to take photos of your vehicle (drivers).
  • Photos / storage: to let you upload an existing ID document or profile photo from your gallery.
  • Notifications: to send trip status updates, match alerts, and community announcements.
  • Microphone (optional): only if you send a voice note in in-app chat; we do not record audio in the background.

Each permission is requested with a clear prompt. You may grant or deny any permission, and revoke them later via your device's settings.

7. Data retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • Trip records are retained for up to 5 years for safety, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
  • Verification documents (ID, selfie) are retained while your account is active and deleted or anonymized within 90 days of account closure, except where a longer period is required by law.
  • Communications (support messages, in-app chat) are retained for up to 24 months.
  • Backups may persist for an additional period (up to 90 days) in encrypted storage before being overwritten on normal rotation.

8. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect personal information, including:

  • TLS/HTTPS encryption for all data in transit between your device, our servers, and our processors.
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive fields such as identity documents and payment references.
  • Role-based access controls so that only authorized RIDEO staff and authorized community administrators can view the data they need to do their job.
  • Logging and monitoring of administrative access.
  • Regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete your account and associated personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your information.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on your consent.
  • Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the Philippines, this is the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).

You can exercise most of these rights directly from your account settings. For anything you cannot do yourself, email us at devwithzach@gmail.com.

10. Account and data deletion

You can request full deletion of your RIDEO account and associated personal information at any time by:

  • Using the Delete my account option in the mobile app (Settings → Account → Delete account), or
  • Emailing devwithzach@gmail.com with the subject line “Account Deletion Request” from the email address on your account.

We will process verified deletion requests within 30 days. Some information may be retained after deletion to the extent required by law, to resolve disputes, to prevent fraud and abuse, or to enforce our agreements. Retained records are anonymized or pseudonymized where reasonably possible.

11. Children's privacy

12. International users

RIDEO is operated from the Philippines. If you access the service from outside the Philippines, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the Philippines and in any country where our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to ensure that such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.

13. Third-party services

Our services use third-party providers for specific functions. Each handles data under its own privacy policy:

  • Hosting and infrastructure: cloud hosting and database providers.
  • Maps and routing: mapping services for displaying pickup hubs, routes, and trip tracking.
  • Payments: licensed payment gateways that handle card and e-wallet transactions.
  • Messaging: SMS and email delivery services for operational messages.
  • Identity verification: identity and document verification partners, where a community requires it.
  • Analytics and crash reporting: to measure reliability and feature usage in aggregate.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
